Description du projet
Introduction & Context
This project to address a pressing safety concern near the Scoutshome bus stops. These stops are located on either side of la Route d'Arlon with a speed limit of 70 km/h, but there is no designated crosswalk, making it unsafe for individuals—especially children visiting the Scoutshome—to cross the road.
Project Overview
This proposal aims to improve pedestrian safety near the Scoutshome bus stops by:
- Creating a painted pedestrian crossing to ensure vehicles stop for pedestrians. (Must have)
- Reducing the speed limit on this section of the road from 70 km/h to 50 km/h. (Should have)
Benefits for the Community
- Enhanced Safety: A reduced speed limit and pedestrian crossing will significantly lower the risk of accidents for residents and visitors, particularly children.
- Improved Accessibility: The addition of a crossing will make it safer and more convenient for people to move between bus stops and nearby areas.
- Support for Sustainable Transportation: Safer crossings encourage the use of public transport and reduce reliance on cars.
Logistical Needs
- Approval from the commune to implement these changes on the specified road segment.
- Collaboration with local traffic authorities to adjust the speed limit and install the necessary signage and markings.
- A communication plan to inform residents and road users about the changes.
